Matriculation examination

The matriculation examination contains no less than four tests for those who have started their exams in the fall of 2021 or before. The test in mother tongue and literature is compulsory for all students (either as Finnish as mother tongue or Finnish as a second language). The candidates select three of the other compulsory tests listed below:

• second national language
• foreign language (basic / advanced syllabus)
• mathematics (basic / advanced syllabus)
• subjects of humanities and natural sciences

Candidates starting their exams in the spring of 2022 will have to include no less than five exams in their matriculation examination.
