World of work and entrepreneurship

Studies at Kitee Upper Secondary School provide you with a variety of opportunities to develop knowledge and competence needed in the world of work. During their studies at general upper secondary school, the students become competent in using computer programmes required in the world of work. In addition, the students acquire language and communication skills required in all fields, as well as competence in team work and logical thinking. Studies related to the world of work and entrepreneurship are organised in collaboration with operators in the local entrepreneurial sector.

Students have an opportunity to complete the course ‘Introduction to the world of work’ as part of their studies at Kitee Upper Secondary School. In accordance with the course objectives, the students

• become interested in the world of work
• gain a stronger understanding of and appreciation for the world of work
• become familiarised with employees’ responsibilities and rights
• experience working in different professions and different working environments
• develop their own abilities to make choices and decisions related to their education and the future
• receive support in questions related to education and the world of work

The main course content includes:

• introduction to the world of work by engaging in practical activities
• development of skills needed in the world of work
• identification and consideration of matters related to making educational and professional choices
• support for educational and professional decisions
